The Foundation for Natural Livestock Farming (NLF) focuses on fund raising activities in order to support and implement natural livestock farming activities world wide. The organization has grown out of long-standing international networks, such as the Ethno Veterinary Medicine (EVM) network and Endogenous Livestock Development (ELD) network.
In 2014 and 2015 the E-Motive program of Oxfam Novib promoted exchanges of farmers and veterinarians between the Netherlands, India and Ethiopia/Uganda on reduction of antibiotic use in dairy farming. This E-Motive exchange program aimed to strengthen knowledge exchange between Nederland and ‘developing countries’ – on themes related to Right to Quality Food. The exchanges included co-funding by the province of Overijssel and Agri-Profocus.
The main aim of this project was to strengthen natural dairy farming, reduce antibiotic use and improved milk quality. This is done by means of knowledge exchange activities between Dutch, Ethiopian and Ugandan veterinarians and farmers related to animal health as well as animal management, with emphasis on cattle breeding. In April 2017 another exchange was organized on medicinal plants, funded by Province of Overijssel and a private funder.
