In 2014 and 2015 the E-Motive program of Oxfam Novib promoted exchanges of farmers and veterinarians between the Netherlands, India and Ethiopia/Uganda on reduction of antibiotic use in dairy farming. This E-Motive exchange program aimed to strengthen knowledge exchange between Nederland and ‘developing countries’ – on themes related to Right to Quality Food. The exchanges included co-funding by the province of Overijssel and Agri-Profocus.
The main aim of this project was to strengthen natural dairy farming, reduce antibiotic use and improved milk quality. This is done by means of knowledge exchange activities between Dutch and Ethiopian/Ugandan veterinarians and farmers related to animal health as well as animal management, with emphasis on cattle breeding.
These exchange programs resulted in the Foundation for Natural Livestock Farming. In 2017 the exchanges with India were continued, funded by Province of Overijssel and a private funder.
